Hola Guitarrón Chronicle-ists! Welcome to the chronicle of our amazing and talented violinist, Alicia!

ā€§ā‚ŠĖšā€ā€§ā‚ŠĖš. Alicia’s Summer Update 8-16-26 ā€§ā‚ŠĖšā€ā€§ā‚ŠĖš.

Mariachi close to Home: šŸŽ»

One of the highlights of my summer was getting to see Mariachi Los Camperos perform live! It was a wonderful experience getting to see them up close. I could go on a rant about every song they performed but I think this blog would turn out to be more of a book ._.

My mom had asked me to take pictures and videos of their performance, and although I do have both of those, the quality of said images were not the best. I was just entranced by watching them perform and I didn’t really pay attention to the fact that I was recording the ceiling. However there are some decent pictures I promise!

One of the things that stuck out to me was that despite the majority of the audience being unfamiliar about Mariachi or even the Spanish language, they still had fun and clapped along. There's a quote that stood out to me that violinist Jesús GuzmÔn said to the people.

ā€œSome of you don’t understand what we’re saying but don’t worry, we don’t know either. We’re here to enjoy ourselves. And you should too.ā€

From Mariachi to Musicals: šŸŽ¤

One of the biggest movies I was looking forward to watching was the Hadestown Proshot. It as fun to watch it with my friends, all who were very familiar with the musical. The moment ChantĀ started playing, we were all readying to recreate the choreography. Even though I knew that its an old song, a sad song, I still watched it again. So many moments still hit me as if I had watched it for the first time. Despite being in a movie theater rather than your typical theater, I still enjoyed it along with all of my friends.Ā

Now way down to Hadestown!

Leaving behind the Valley of the Sun:Ā

ā€œIt’s Hell on Earth, and the city’s on fireā€¦ā€ -Ā  Frank Ocean, Solo

While I may have watched Hadestown, why not tell you about a different kind of hell: Hades’ underworld, but above ground. Ah yes, Phoenix. Much like the mythical bird its name represents, the city itself was just as hot. There’s a saying about what you can do in Phoenix during the summer, and it goes something like this: ā€œThe only thing to do in Phoenix is to leave.ā€

Well, with summer finally coming to an end, I suppose it’s finally my time to leave the place I call home. I’ll miss those beautiful molten skies, the blazing heat, and the familiar feeling of summer stretching endlessly ahead of me. But I know Phoenix will be waiting to welcome me back with open arms when winter comes around.Ā

Although, knowing Phoenix, it’ll still be hot. ;-;

See you guys around soon!

All the best,Ā

AliciaĀ

Thank you Alicia for a wonderful update! We wish you good luck with the rest of your summer in the heat. I would say it’s looking better for you, but here back in Houston it’s painfully hot and HUMID T-T we shall suffer together soon…

See ya! Only 1 more summer chronicle left :(
