Hello. It is I. Here is my summer (beyond binge watching Abbott Elementary).

Road Trips 🚐

I’ve been road tripping here and there. I’ve visited Austin, Galveston, Eagle Pass, and have been camping this summer. Galveston was shockingly beautiful, we had dinner on the beach and watched the sun set. Camping was actually a lot of fun. Well I guess everywhere was a lot of fun. But when we went camping it started storming in the middle of the night and we had to seek shelter in my good friend Anna’s car which was really funny and something out of a movie. I also swam in a lake and paddleboarded which I had never done before. Isn’t that something?

The Summer of Movies 🍿

I’ve been on a roll at the movies. I love going with my housemates. I think I’ve been to the movies more times this summer than in my entire life. Well. That’s probably an exaggeration. We started using my siblings’ rewards account to get free Icees. Isn’t that beautiful.

My top four movies I’ve seen in theaters this summer and why (in no particular order):

🌹Hadestown Proshot

I love this musical so much and the proshot was so good I felt like I was watching it for the first time and I noticed things I hadn’t before (hint: i’ve seen hadestown multiple times). Really a beautiful piece of work I would recommend everyone go see and have their life changed. 100/10.

🎭The Drama

Can’t say too much without spoilers but its Zendaya and Robert Pattinson and we watch people making bad choices after bad choices… an unfolding of a crash out. I couldn’t look at times. 10/10

🧞‍♂️Obsession

I feel like I’m not usually a big fan of horror or scary films but I feel like this had just the right mix of scary, psychological trauma, and gore to keep me entertained. When I rewatched this with my sibling, I still got jumpscared somehow and also couldn’t look at times. 10/10

⛵️The Odyssey

A trick... a trick to break the walls of Troy... I need you guys to imagine watching this in 4DX 9.9/10

Employment 💻

I’ve also been on a roll with employment. I am currently wrapping up an internship, a job, and the research I been doing here in Houston. My internship is with Baylor College of Medicine where I’m helping out with their healthcare administration and communications department. I’ve also taken on a job at the Rice Rec so stop by and say hi if any of you guys find yourselves wanting to get a workout in. On weekends, I work with my lab to do data collection which is essentially interviewing people about their lives. Some very interesting stories there.

Mariachi Mischief 🎶

And of course, we cannot forget all the planning I’ve been doing for this upcoming semester, especially in terms of mariachi. My Spotify Wrapped this year will probably be pure mariachi music, as I’ve been researching oh so many songs to go on this years setlist. Also a ton of other internal operations happening this year as far as mariachi goes but I am glad to have a locked in and wonderful mariachi officer team to get through it with. I’ve spotted quite a few of my fellow mariachis around over these past few months… strange…

Anyways, wish me luck as I continue the process of trying to move off and out of my street. It’s been more of a hassle than you’d think it would be. Anyways again, I am excited for what is to come this year. Hope to see you all soon.
