‧₊˚❀‧₊˚. Andrea’s Summer Update 6-14-26 ‧₊˚❀‧₊˚.

IT’S SPRINGTIME! Well, it’s already summer, but the Carolina Wrens that made a nest in our mailbox had THREE chicks! And after over a week of momma and papa bird bringing tons of worms, the three little chicks have left the nest. Farewell pajaritos!

Speaking of pajaritos, my dear daughter finished Sophomore year! High School is no joke! but she made it with great grades. Her dream is to become a child’s therapist, so this summer she will be interning at a psychology practice where she will observe live therapy and participate with other interns in psychology research. She is a true owl in the making!

On my side, work was a bit crazy last month. I work as a Pre-Award specialist, helping Rice researchers develop and submit their proposals. We usually have a fair amount of proposals to submit, but when the Department of Energy decides to have a “call for proposals” due the same day with over 70 possible topics, well, you have a ton of work. The good news is that we made it! We submitted over 50 DOE Genesis proposals!!! I am grateful to be part of a dedicated and professional team that made it possible.

On the fun/artistic side, this summer I have been playing with my dear friend and mariachi alumni Peter Suzuki. We will participate in the Houston Make Music Day (June 21^st). Make Music is a free celebration of music around the world on Sunday, June 21st. Launched in 1982 in France as the Fête de la Musique, it is now held on the same day in more than 2,000 cities in 120 countries. More than 5,304K music-making events took place nationwide in 2025. The time/venue is tentative but the details are below. Please check this link closer to the date to confirm our performance time.
