Hola! Welcome back to The Guitarrón Chronicles hosted by your fellow guitarrónes, Danielle and Hannah! This week’s chronicle is brought to you by rising junior senior, mariachi officer emeritus, and renowned violinist, Jason!
Jason’s Summer Update 6-28-26 ヽ(°〇°)ノ
Hey y'all! I briefly escaped from studying for the MCAT to give a quick recap of my summer so far.

Starting off the summer, I went to visit Alaska with my family, and my first thoughts were about how beautiful the weather was up there (compared to how my car turns into a convection oven the moment I step inside... 🔥🔥🚒)
Although we weren't able to bring any liquids larger than one of those tiny toothpaste tubes, Alaska was nonetheless very welcoming, and the views were just as great as the "rather warm weather of ~60 °F" while walking around town and in the national forest. 🌲🌲🌲

^^Photos of a river and a waterfall, a short part of the fish's journey of swimming hundreds of miles back to their birthplace to lay eggs. Interestingly enough, they have tiny magnetic crystals in their noses that act as their internal GPS and can smell the distinct river they were born in. I'm honestly rather jealous, and I kinda want something similar to perfectly manage rush hour traffic...🐟🐟🚗🐟

^^Pretty cool infographic on remembering the 5 species of salmon in Alaska! (Chum, Sockeye, King/Chinook, Silver/Coho, Pink) 🐟

I also visited a really small portion of the Tongass National Forest (the largest U.S. National Forest at 16.7 million acres), and took a brief break from studying, sitting at the fireside and watching the sun "set" at 12:30 AM.
Although coming back to Houston was a pretty drastic environmental change, I spotted a "river" on a walk around the neighborhood! It's good to be back, continuing to shadow at various clinics, and study some more (I guess).

I really did miss the food back home, and I caught up with some friends at a really good pho place, where I even got a fun little fortune cookie at checkout!

^^A solid 8.6 out of 10

^^I think that this fortune applies to everyone in the mariachi family, so thanks for joining me on my brief ramble, and I look forward to the fall semester! :)
All the best,
Jason
Thank you for the update, Jason! I hope that one day he learns to finish the broth of the pho, which is arguably the best part, because why did he just leave it all there..? 🥀💔Anyways, Alaska sounds like a lot of fun! You have inspired a new dream of decorating my future house with passive aggressive and comical bear signs.
Until next week!
Con amor,
Hannah & Danielle
